About This Item

Privately Issued. 1914. First Edition. Very Good+; Hardcover; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 469 pages, bound in blue cloth, gilt lettering on spine. Catlogue of 4,902 members, from 1639-1914, with index. Clean, tight cover, sharp corners. Front hinge a bit stretched. Front endpapers tanned (offset from old newspaper clippings); pages clean, unmarked, mildly age-toned. The church was formed in 1639 with seven 'pillars', most of whom migrated to other areas in the next decades: Theophilus Eaton, John Davenport, Robert Newman, Matthew Gilbert, Thomas Fugill (excommunicated!), John Punderson, and Jeremy Dixon. Notations of interest to genealogist and historians are comments 'dismissed' and the year and in many cases where the member resettled. The first woman mentioned is Mary (Henry) Brown, admitted in 1638, removed, with her husband, to England in 1647. The last members mentioned in the book were admitted in 1914: Milton W. Burt, James Smith Hemingway, Jr., Myron Andrews Munson, and Laura N. Talbot Rathbun. Packaged with care and shipped in a box. .
