Paris: F. Savy No date of publication, though 1864. "This volume is a revision of Lemaire's earlier (1846) work of the same title forming the third volume (Ser. 2, No. I) of the second edition of the 'Bibliotheque Zoologique.' The first edition was published in 1837..." (Zimmer, 1926). Pp: 203, plus 80 steel engraved, hand-colored plates after Pauquet, followed by a double and a single page black and white plate with 32 figures pertaining to preservation. There is also a colored illustration on the half title page just before the plates. Although Zimmer (1926) also calls for a 12 page appendix, this was not included as part of this copy. Original green cloth covers with blind stamped decoration and gilt stamped lettering. A catologue of ther publisher's other titles is seen on the end leaves. Cloth covers show a little rubbing and some light scuffs. Very light wear at corners. There are a few red penciled marks seen on the end leaves denoting specific titles of someone's interest. A few of the leaves show rough edges, though not affecting any of the text. There is some foxing seen in the text and on the tissue guards. A couple plates with light stains, but for the most part plates are in exceptionally good condition. Volume remains tight. . Cloth - Hard Cover. Good+/No Dust Jacket. Illus. by Pauquet.
