L’Illustration. 1936. Folio. Approx 15 x 11 inches. In red morocco leather covers with gilt to spine and gilt and white lettering to front with car design. Marbled endpapers. In very good condition. Spine slightly rubbed at ends with small chip at top end, neat glue repair to front hinge. Some minor handling marks to covers, corners slightly bumped. Top corner edge of front blank-endpaper/prelim slightly torn/chipped/rubbed (no other pages affected.) Inside pages and plates all very clean and bright. Else a very clean and tight copy. 446pp. With colour frontis, b/w illustrations, and photographs. Some colour plates and a few mounted coloured plates. History of transport in French. The authors describe various methods of transport from walking and horse, to the latest motor cars and bicycles. Some chapters cover some of the leading personalities including Benz, Daimler, Panhard, Bouton, Renault, Ford, etc. Stunning illustrations.
