[xviii], 300pp, plus numerous monochrome illustrations. Printed on archival-quality paper (it will not brown) and bound in full blue leather with generous gilt decoration front, spine and back, three raised bands on spine, all edges gilt, silk moire endpapers, silk ribbon marker bound in. One of a limited first edition, privately printed, exclusively for Franklin Library subscribers. A handsome, finely produce volume in near fine condition throughout (very tiny rub on rear lower corner). Renowned for fine bindings and collectors' editions of beautiful literature, the Franklin Library produced some of the most attractive and desirable books of the 20th century. Poole's second novel, a striking story of the continuity of life from generation to generation in New York City in the late 19th century, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction when it was first published in 1918. 8vo.

Synopsis

His Family is a novel by Ernest Poole published in 1917 about the life of a New York widower and his three daughters in the 1910s. It received the first Pulitzer Prize for the Novel in 1918.
