Quarto, first edition, pp. 224, red cloth boards with silver stamped lettering to spine, signed by Hirschfeld on the title page, gift note from Carol Channing laid in. Channing, who as a Broadway star was an occasional subject of Hirschfeld caricature, apparently gave this book to the recipient of the note. Also laid in is a note from her publicist saying she will visit the recipient to sign the book, but she seems to have broken her promise. Includes an introduction by John Russell. Condition of this book: Fine in a near fine jacket with a couple short tears at edges and slight soiling. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
