Large quarto hardcover bound in blue cloth and white publisher's dust-jacket with small black and white photographic illustration on front cover. 190 pages. Translated from the German by Claus Nielander. Bibliography and brief biographies of the over 100 photographers represented herein. Illustrated throughout with full page black and white photographs and several in color. First American edition. Focusing primarily, though not exclusively, on the work of photographers who made the depiction of the male nude their principle focus, the present work is "the first attempt to sketch the history of the male nude in photography and to illustrate , through exemplary pictures, the iconographic and stylistic development of this theme." No previous ownership marks. A clean, tight, unmarked and near like new copy. No faults, albeit not crisp like a new copy. Near fine in a fine dust-jacket protected by Brodart clear cover. A large, heavy book, Priority and International orders will require additional postage, calculated as close to actual cost as possible. .
