Heroes of Three Wars

This is an antique Revolutionary War, Mexican-American War and Civil War book, "HEROES OF THREE WARS" by Captain Willard Glazier. 1882; Hubbard Brothers; Philadelphia. With 19 full-page illustrations. Decorative floral end papers. The book contains biographical sketches "of the most distinguished soldiers of the War of the Revolution, the War with Mexico, and the War for the Union, who have contributed by their valor to establish and perpetuate the Republic of the United States." There are 40 biographies in all, including George Washington, Joseph Warren, Nathaniel Greene, Lafayette, Ethan Allen, John Paul Jones, John Stark, Sam Houston, William Tecumseh Sherman, George McClellan, David Farragut, George Custer, and many more.

Condition:
There are a few tiny stains on the covers and spine, otherwise clean with bright gilt decorations and lettering; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The text pages nearly appear unread with only a name/date (1883) and "$2.00" written in colored pencil on the title page...no other issues found. Ink stamp on the front pastedown, and an interesting ink stamp on a blank front end paper and on the back-side of the frontispiece ("Damn others as you would like to be damned yourself; His head is right and level - Who has neither God or Devil; Pay as you like to be paid"). Overall the book is in very good condition.
