About This Item

Boston and Toronto: Little, Brown & Co, 1965. First American Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Near Fine/Very Good+. Derrick Holmes (dust jacket). 8vo. Pp. 214. Red cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the spine, device stamped in blind on the cover, top edge dyed red, endpapers decorated with lips in red: spine ends rubbed, top edge dust soiled. In the Derrick Holmes illustrated dust jacket with lenticular lips winkie affixed, with slight edge-wear. Comic novel of a seventeen year old rake, made into a swinging-sixties film two years later. Davies also wrote the Authorized Biography of the Beatles. The clever dust jacket feature, the animated lips, are affixed to the front panel; as such, the attrition of the lips applique, which catches while being packed or moved, has been significant. Dust jacket preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
