Very Good 1714, Hamburg Germany. The first ever printing of this seminal classic. The first time that Bible stories were printed specifically for children. Thus it was somewhat "cleansed" before publication. One source I found says that the incest and murder committed by David were altered, among other things. It is four inches by seven inches, and includes 104 plates from engravings, 52 in the Old Testament, and 52 in the New Testament. There are 400 pages of text, plus the eight page introduction. Also, all the plates are on unnumbered pages, for a total of 512 printed pages. The book is in its original calves leather boards and spine, which are still attached but fragile. All pages, including all front and rear endpapers, are present. The last two plates have been repaired at the edges, and several pages inside have edge tears or stains, but they are minimal. Front inner hinge split, mild foxing/creasing to endpapers, some mothing into the edges, moisture stain along top margin of the Hymns, few page corners chipped - not affecting text, some scuffing/rubbing to the leather. This first volume of La Sainte Bible qui contient le Vieux et Le Nouveau Testament, commonly called Mortier's Bible, after the name of the printer, is in a good condition. The volume is tightly bound with some tearing of the latter vellum and noticeable discoloration. The text and beautiful engravings remain in excellent condition. Few pages are loose and torn but most have sustained foxing around the edges. This two volume set was created by David Martin [1639 - 1721], was a learned French Protestant theologian. Xantes Pagnino was a 15th-century Dominican friar known for his studies in biblical philology. While his edition of the Hebrew Bible is considered his best work, he published a biblical thesaurus which was written to aid in the reading of the Hebrew texts. This 1578 printing of Pagnino's Hebrew/Latin "Thesaurus linguæ sanctæ" was published by Christopher Plantin.

Gerardus Vossius was a 16th-century Dutch classical theologian known for being one of the first to treat theological dogmas and non-Christian religions from a historical point of view, rather than the more accepted theological. His works of rhetoric were widely popular and were used as textbooks during and after his lifetime. He followed Aristotelian thought and was influenced not only by Aristotle, but also by Cicero and other ancient philosophers.
Vossius's "De Theologia Gentili" was his commentary on the origins and rise of idolatry throughout history. It gives glimpses into Gentile theologies followed in the Bible. This 1668 edition was published in Amsterdam by Blaeu.
