D. Appleton and company,, 1893.. Sixth edition. hardcover. GOOD. Original printing of the 6ths (1893) edition. A generally satisfactory copy. This is a brown cloth hardcover with elaborate black embossed design on front cover, large gold lettering on spine; 591pp; fold-out frontispiece engraving of an elaborate mechanical device. Apparently is ex-library but sticker on spine and other evidence has disappeared through age or intent; no other marks. Cover little worn (fraying at extremeties and along front hinge). Front endpaper split at hinge but cover held by cloth mesh. Faint dampstain along upper page edges.
