About This Item
New York: Farrar, Straus Giroux, 1987. Octavo. First American edition, one of 250 copies specially bound and signed by the author. The Nobel laureate's tenth regularly published collection contains "From the Republic of Conscience," which Heaney contributed to Amnesty International to commemorate its 25th anniversary. That poem was published separately in 1985. Very fine in dark red cloth and matching paper-covered slipcase. (Brandes & Durkan A41.e).
