Peter B Gleason And Co. Hartford, Connecticut, 1820 Book size about 3 by 4 3/4 inches with some 359 pages. Bound in full leather. Myriad hymns taken from Newton, Cowper, Doddridge and Rippon plus others not often seen. Also contains hymns never before published. The compilers were attempting to provide those hymns most compatible with the congregations in the new Republic (As opposed to those in Great Britain, for example). Words only, no music provided. Originally published circa 1799 this is the Seventh Edition. Chip at spine bottom and rear cover edge; wear through at tips and other places; free front end paper badly chipped along the edges; paper uniformly aged and/or foxed. GOOD. 5th or later Edition.. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket.
