Contents include articles, poems, essays, and illustrations by noted authors and illustrators of the day. This edition features articles on the reign of Abdul-Medjid, astronomy, American historical trees, Edward Baker, William Cullen Bryant, caricature and caricaturists, the Coast Rangers of California, corporal punishment, disunionists and secessionists, fashion, fish culture, a history of the United States Navy, Washington Irving, the United States Mint, the Okavango River, Shay's Rebellion, etc. The serial Orley Farm by Anthony Trollope is included. Front and rear boards detached but present. Rubbing and loss to leather, particularly on spine where it is mostly gone. Internal binding tight and pages clean. Good..
