This work features the beautiful artwork of British watercolour painter and illustrator Helen Allingham, with descriptions and a memoir by Marcus. B. Huish. Allingham was a successful painter of the Victoria era, being one of the only women at that time to be able to make a living of painting, and was best known for her paintings depicting the English countryside. Externally very smart with fading to the spine, bumping to the extremities with very small closed tears to the head of the spine, a very minor lean and the odd slight mark to the boards and spine. Hinges starting with endpapers age toned. Internally lacking two of the plates facing 176 with two disbound but present with evidence of adhesive residue and lacking plates facing pp. 24 ,26, 74, 76, 78, 104, 106, 108, 110, 112, 114, 116, 140, 142, 150, 156, 158 and 178. Pages generally bright with advertisements and blanks age toned with occasional spotting. Good
