Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, 1979. First Edition . Hardcover. Dust Jacket Included. Early printing (same date on title page and copyright page), near fine in a near dust jacket. Top edge of page block is slightly dusty. The jacket has a few tiny closed tears at edges and the white background is slightly darkened at spine. Tiny chip at the head of the spine. Includes family tree endpapers, idiomatic phrases (from Lakota to English), and a glossary of Lakota words used in the book; 834 pages. An historical novel of the Sioux culture from the late 1700's to 1830. This copy is signed by the author on the half title page, and dated October 1979. It is also signed by Chunksa Yuha on the same page. Yuha is the "language collaborator" for the book, and is pictured on the rear flap of the jacket. $14.95 price is present on the front flap; a tight, square, and clean copy of this noted Native American book.
