Kansas City, Mo, 1912. About very good.. [48]pp. Original printed card covers, stapled. Remnants of original paper label at top of front cover, some light wear and soiling. Errata slip town away at title page. Internally clean. Early telephone directory for Hannibal, Missouri, Mark Twain's hometown. The Missouri & Kansas Telephone Company was part of the Bell Telephone system and headquartered in Kansas City. The present directory contains [43]pp. of personal alphabetical listings, followed by a [4]pp. insert of classified business listings. At the time, Hannibal was a town of about 18,000 people. Located in the northern part of the state on the Mississippi River, the town was founded as a railroad hub to connect to St. Joseph out west. We find no copies of this directory -- or any others for Hannibal -- in OCLC.
