New York: W.W. Norton & Company, 2006. First edition and first printing. Oblong hardcover. Features a long introduction by Plowden along with 77 duotone images taken in towns like Columbus Junction, Iowa and Gypsum, Kansas. A clean and tight near fine copy with a faint scratch to the front board and in a near fine dust jacket with the same slight scratch to the front panel. Signed and nicely inscribed by Plowden on the title page in the year of publication.

Synopsis

A Handful of Dust is a novel by Evelyn Waugh published in 1934. It is included in Modern Library List of Best 20th-Century Novels, and was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the one hundred best English-language novels from 1923 to present. The title is an allusion to T. S. Eliot's 1922 poem The Waste Land: I will show you something different from either Your shadow at morning striding behind you Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you; I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
