About This Item
Saint Louis, Missouri: Concordia House, 1975. Third Edition, Revised. Hardcover. Near Fine. The Lutheran Hymnal consists of 644 hymns, 16 spiritual songs, and besides those included in the orders of matins and vespers, 8 canticles and chants. This scarce companion volume, in Part I, offers notes on the hymns. Part II is the Biographical and Historical Notes on the Authors and Composers, and a bibliography. Part III begins a reference section with the Table of Hymns for Feasts, Festivals, and Sundays of the Church-Year, First Lines of Original Hymns, First Lines of Stanzas, Alphabetical Index of Tunes, authors, composers, and translators. Also included is a Metrical Index of Tunes. Just a hint of shelf-rubbing to edges and corners, and really, hardly noticeable. Previous owner's name and date to front free pastedown endpaper and no other markings at all.
