About This Item
Berkeley: University of California Press, 1986. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 971 p. Numerous textual figures and tables. This seminal work brings together, for the first time, an immense body of information on Indian uses of plant foods and fibers in all the arid regions of North America, including Mexico. The period covered predates the appearance of humankind in the New World and extends through the period of the Paleo-Indian up to and inclusive of historical times. Also contains sections devoted to wild animals, which include discussions of many insect species and the ways in which they were used for food. This copy is inscribed and dated by Ebeling to the renowned entomologist Roy Snelling on the front flyleaf. Octavo. Original brown cloth binding, with black lettering. A bit of mild soiling along the edges. The dust jacket is slightly rubbed, with a small tear to the front panel and a very faint stain to the bottom corner of the rear panel; otherwise very good. Signed by Author.
