London - Yokohama: Crosby Lockwood - Kelly & Walsh, 1907. Fourth Edition Revised. Thomas Hardy’s copy with his ownership signature “Thomas Hardy” written in ink on the front free endpaper, and on the rare pastedown are five pencilled words of notes in his hand. On the front pastedown is the striking Thomas Hardy estate bookplate printed in red which reads “FROM THE LIBRARY OF THOMAS HARDY, O.M. - MAX GATE.” 584 pages. Hinges cracked, very good in original brown gilt-stamped cloth. Books from Hardy’s library rarely appear on the market.
