Brown covers with gilt and gilt emblem on upper board, blind-stamped decoration on upper and lower boards, 403pp inc index plus 4pp adverts, with 357 engravings. Covers have moderate wear and rubbing, upper joint splitting, tiny losses at head and foot of spine. Binding weak at one point, but holding, lower hinge starting to crack. Damp marks on covers and prelims. Dusty, edges and foxed prelims. Name on first page of text (dated 1858) has been crossed out with the same pen. Otherwise internally reasonably clean. Ref:103928.
