Book is tight, square, and unmarked but scattered pencil notations in margins. Book Condition: Very Good; light rubbing to boards; moisture mark on the outer third portion of the first quarter of the book; no warped or stuck pages; during the rebinding pages 5-12 were not bound in (one signature) and are laid in the front of the book. No DJ. Green buckram boards and spine with silver lettering on the spine. 479 pp 4to. Brief mention of the Hamlins is found in various genealogical and historical works. It is believed that no extensive work of the family history has ever been published but for this one. The author traces the name through France and England with the Anglicized form of the name Hamlin most approved. The earliest Hamlin was Capt, Giles Hamlin, a mariner (sea captain) born in England in 1622 and arrived in America in 1655 residing in Hartford and them Middletown, CT. From there the book covers 9 generations of Hamlins. Illustrations and index. A clean very presentable copy.
