Upper text edge dyed green. Green linen boards/VG; strong & sound, showing marked discoloration. DJ/None. One of the earliest of English-language histories of Himalayan climbing written for young readers. Published before the first ascent of Everest, the books ends with, "That man will subdue Everest ... We do not know when. In five years, ten years, fifty years perhaos. But the certainty is there. He will subdue Everest." Volume includes dramatic details of expeditions to Everest, Kanchenjunga, Nanda Devi, and Nanga Parbat.
