About This Item
London: Collins, 1944. First UK edition, first printing. Published by Collins, London, in 1944. This is a very good copy. Issued without a wrapper, the pictorial cloth backed boards, illustrated by Al Dempster, are generally clean. There are instances of rubbing and creasing at the corners and slight toning too. The end papers are present in yellow, brown and red - some separation and patches of rubbing patches. The internals are generally clean but with slight toning present. The cloth spine is toned and appears slightly soiled, however is mostly intact but with some slight areas of separation. Overall, this is a very good copy of a nice piece of modern culture. Dahl's first book and it was written for Walt Disney Productions, in anticipation of a feature-length animated film that was never made.
