First Edition.. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 1st printing w/complete number sequence. The second book in Collins's Underland Chronicles, this one seeing Gregor called by the Underlanders to save them from the dire consequences foretold by a prophecy "about an ominous white rat known as the Bane." Inscription reads, "For James,/Fly You High!/Love,/Suzanne Collins." Chocolate cloth w/maroon cloth backstrip, gilt design/lettering to front cover, gilt spine lettering, 312 pages (including acknowledgments). Light general wear, in lightly scuffed dust jacket w/mild edgewear, a bit of flaking to title gilt, 1" diagonal crinkle to right edge of dust jacket (publisher's flaw), a shallow impression to front panel. All in all a fairly nice copy..
