Inside front cover is coat of arms of the USS Benfold; inside rear cover is coat of arms of Audubon. Pages are clean and tight. Signed on title page by author Edgar E. Burgess, 5/12/00. Exhaustively illustrated with hundreds of color and b/w photos and drawings. The USS Benfold was commissioned on 30 March, 1996. Building started on 12 October, 1992, in Pascagoula, Mississippi; the destroyer was named after Medal of Honor Winner Edward C. Benfold, built for the USN Pacific fleet, equipped with Aegis Weapons System. States on copyright page 'first printing'. Chapters are: History of Audubon; History of St. Mary's Episcopal Church; History of a hero: Edward C. Benfold, USN; History of a ship: the USS BENFOLD (DDG-65) ; Green Wave and the Navy: History of a Friendship; The Future: 'Onward with Valor' into the 21st Century; about the authors; bibliography.
