About This Item
New York: The Viking Press, 1957. First edition. 8vo, 188pp. Green cloth with stamped illustration of a ferris wheel and star, top edge stained turquoise. Beautiful, fine copy in like jacket with only a hint of rubbing to extremities. Original price of $3.00 in tact. First edition of this final children's book from Lawson, author of Rabbit Hill. The Great Wheel was published a few months after his death, and the copyright page is corrected to show his estate now holding the rights. The book went on to win a Newbery Honor the next year. This, a nicely preserved copy, is uncommon thus.
