Hardcover. viii, 127p., 5.5x8.5 inches, illus., endpapers and edges lightly foxed, previous owner's name penned on free front endpaper else very good condition. Collects passages from Hodgson's 1927 utopian science fiction novel "The Time-Journey Of Dr Barton: An Engineering and Sociological Forecast based on Present Possibilities" and his articles "Some Aspects of the Problem of Industrial and Communal Waste," "The Emergent Order," and "The War of the Rockets" along with new material in an ambitious "attempt...to summarise the Past, to understand the Present, and to point a way towards the Future-a Future in which men may settle down to enjoy the unexplored richness of their own natures and the teeming resources of the planet on which they find themselves." Illustrated with woodcuts by Belgian artist Daenens, who also provided illustrations for anarchist newspapers. Hodgson was an English engineer and inventor. His wife was the suffragette Joan Hodgson, and the couple were friends of Sylvia Pankhurst.
