London: Daldy, Isbister, 1878. Octavo. Rebound in modern half morocco and red cloth. Spine ruled in six compartments. Simple gilt lines and title. Half title. Text block trimmed. Frontispiece and five other full page illustrations. Two folding, two page coloured illustrations showing sledging flags. 26 woodcuts in text. Two maps including one folding. Minor soiling and foxing on the preliminary leaves otherwise a fine clean copy internally. Arctic Biblio. 10926. The copy of Alfred Arthur Chase Parr who was second lieutenant on the Alert. Parr has boldly signed the top of the the half title. Markham was captain of the ALERT during the Nares expedition. Copies of Expedition related titles with fellow Explorer's associations are very scarce on the market 1878
