Octavo. 5.75 x 8.75 in. 90 pp. Near fine in original cloth-backed paper-covered boards and near fine pictorial dust jacket with light foxing to endpapers and interior. Inscribed to the Penland based Ceramicist, Jane Peiser, with laid-in pamphlet from an event at Captain's Bookshelf in Asheville, North Carolina with the married poets Jack Gilbert and Linda Gregg in November 1994.

Synopsis

Jack Gilbert was born in Pittsburgh. He has published Views of Jeopardy , the 1962 winner of the Yale Younger Poets Series, and Monolithos . Both books were nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. A third volume, elegiac poems, was bought out, in a limited edition, under the title Kochan . Mr. Gilbert has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
