Edinburgh: Limited Editions Club, 1937. Hardcover. Owner ink stamp on front blank. Spine darkened, as often the case, with some rubbing. Easily Very Good, lacking the slipcase. Gordon Ross. Quarto (7" x 10") bound in green buckram and printed by R. & R. Clark with a previously unpublished 6000-word preface by George Bernard Shaw. This edition is also bibliographically important in that it is the first time Dickens's original "unhappy" ending to this great novel was published. This is copy #1445 of 1500 with 55 illustrations by Gordon Ross and SIGNED by the illustrator on the colophon page.

Synopsis

Great Expectations is a novel by Charles Dickens first serialised in All the Year Round from 1 December 1860 to August 1861. It is regarded as one of his greatest and most sophisticated novels, and is one of his most enduringly popular novels; having been adapted for stage and screen over 250 times.
