About This Item

London: Hamlyn. Good in Fair dust jacket. 1970. First Edition. Hardcover. Grey cloth bound boards with blue titling to the spine and with a blue decoration to the front cover. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket, which is not price-clipped. The dustjacket is 98% complete but is very chipped, torn and rubbed to the edges. The tears are now neatly repaired to the inside with clear archive tape. There is fading to the edges of the cloth boards, otherwise there are NO inscriptions or other marks. 126 pp. Illustrated throughout with b/w photographs. Overall, apart from the 'faults' as detailed above, this is a Tight and Secure, 'Good Plus' copy. "The art and architecture of Japan are characterised by an exquisite refinement and a close attention to balance and detail. Whether the building is a temple, a palace or a simple house, the proportions are worked out with equal skill and care. These qualities appeal particularly to modern taste, providing a source of inspiration for many present-day architects." ; 4to 11" - 13" tall .
