Folio, (ii), 157, (1) pp. Chromolithographed second title and 111 fine chromolithographed plates, each with a tissue guard, showing numerous designs, a fine bright copy in the original gilt decorated maroon cloth, spine ends bumped, small hole to lower edge of upper cover, a.e.g., recently recased, a very good bright copy. First published in 1856, and then the first work of its kind, Jones brought together patterns from all over the world to form one of the major works in Victorian Design. Maclean pp122-4 - "...the masterpiece of them all..."
