This is a Good Copy of this Book in dark green paper covered boards with darker cloth spine,no title lettering present.The work was intended for the use of schools and of young persons in general;but more especially for the use of soldiers,sailors,apprentices and ploughboys,published in the form of six letters.Cobbett was the Son of a farmer and innkeeper, Cobbett joined the army when he was 21 but had to flee to America in 1791 after making accusations of military corruption. There he was stung into action in 1794 by the visit of Joseph Priestley, the scientist and radical. Convinced that Priestley was a traitor, Cobbett wrote the pamphlet that launched his journalistic career. For the next six years he published 12 volumes of diatribes against American democracy, his style securing him many enemies and the nickname 'Peter Porcupine'.
