Venice: Remondini, 1753. Second edition in Italian of Martin's "The Philosophical Grammar" (1735). [8], 326pp. Engraved frontispiece portrait, 22 plates, 2 folding tables. Vellum c. 1753, hand-lettered spine. Edges of plates a little frayed, but very good. Bookplates of the Libreria Forni, Bologna, and the Burndy Library (with withdrawal stamp). Martin, an instrument-maker and dealer, was one of the great popularizers of science in the mid-eighteenth century.
