Reprint of the 1964 Second Edition. 796 pages with maps, a reading list and an index. Weight: 1.5 kg Post free within Malaysia, but may incur additional charges when posted elsewhere. The cover has very little wear other than a nick at the base of the spine and the text block is tanned. The end papers and inside covers are stained. There is a previous owner's name written on a front end paper as well as a bookseller's stamp. The binding is tight, text clear and there is very mild tanning throughout.

The Penang Bookshelf was set up in mid 2010 principally to introduce Malaysian residents to the variety of books there is available about the country both past and present. We only stock fiction and non-fiction related to Malaysia and the rest of Asia. Much of our current stock of over a thousand different titles is not available in Malaysia. Conversely much of our stock published in Malaysia is difficult to find outside the country. Glossary

Some terminology that may be used in this description includes:

Tight
Used to mean that the binding of a book has not been overly loosened by frequent use.
Text Block
Most simply the inside pages of a book. More precisely, the block of paper formed by the cut and stacked pages of a book....
Spine
The outer portion of a book which covers the actual binding. The spine usually faces outward when a book is placed on a shelf....
Reprint
Any printing of a book which follows the original edition. By definition, a reprint is not a first edition.
