Poet Paul Engle's libretto for the lyric opera "Golden Child" composed by Philip Bezanson; this uniquekly American original work is set in 1849 in the Sierra Nevadas at the ranch-fort of pioneer and goldbug Captain John Sutter. It was produced for broadcast by the Hallmark Hall of Fame series on December 16, 1960.
