About This Item
London: MacGibbon & Kee, 1968. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Very Good Indeed. 9" by 5.5". Not Stated. A signed and scarce first edition copy of this coming-of-age novel, the first of a trilogy, with a letter from the author to the previous owner. The scarce first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Loosely inserted is a letter from the author to his friends Jim and Joan Morgan, presumably written at the same time as the inscription to the front free end paper, presenting this book to his friend Jim Morgan, dated 1968. Philip Kenneth Callow (1924-2007) was an English novelist known for his autobiographical portrayals of working-class life. This work is the first book of his Another Flesh trilogy, which was his best-received fictional work. This trilogy, like much of his work, has autobiographical elements. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Dust wrapper is bright, and generally smart except for a little chipping to the upper extremities, with one small closed tear to the rear of the wrap. Fine
