Red cloth with silver titles and decoration to spine and upper board in price-clipped pictorial dust-jacket with publisher's Herriot Library list to front flap. Cover cloth rubbed to edge with minor damp-stains to boards; spine lightly sunned. Jacket soiled to rear white panel; numerous nicks & creases. Loss to head of spine (approx 1 1/2", triangular) and smaller loss to front/rear lower edges with associated creasing; very minor loss tail of spine and corners. Foxing & staining to textblock edge; minor foxing to prelims. Sunday School prize plate to ffep dated 1940, presented to Margaret Bentham of Kirkby Stephen; original retailer's ticket above. A sound copy of the Author's first book.
