London: Longmans, Green & Co, 1890. A fine copy.. Octavo; original dark blue cloth.

Third edition (first 1889), with presentation inscription "Eden Lewis from Rosalind Carlisle, July 1893" (Lady Carlisle was Gilbert Murray's mother-in-law), and the signature of the book's later owner Hugh Lloyd-Jones, Regius Professor of Greek at Oxford.

Gobi or Shamo was Murray's first and only novel, written in his undergraduate days. The plot involves the search and eventual discovery of a lost Greek colony in Asia by a young Englishman.
