About This Item
Tours, 1888. Paperback. Poor. 644pp., 7.5 x 11 with French text. Dick de Lonlay (Georges Hardoin, 18461893) was a French writer, journalist and draftsman who published important stories about contemporary military history including: Français et Allemands. Histoire anecdotique de Guerre de 1870-1871. Warmly inscribed in French to my excellent ami by the author on the front free endpaper to an unidentified name. In Our Military Glories de Lonlay surveys French military history with descriptions of 53 military campaigns in chronological order from 1214 to 1859 including but not limited to the Battles at ... Bouvine, Orléans, Marignan, Fontenoy, Jemmapes, Fleures, Arcole, Rivoli, Les Pyramides, Hohenlinden, Eylau, Lutzen, Ligny, Constantine, Isly, Inkermann, Magenta, Solférino and many more. Illustrated battles scenes are depicted with 8 color etchings and many black and white reproductions throughout. A reference copy only of the uncommon softcover. With uncut pages including several vertical splits throughout the spine; the book is no longer whole. Despite this, a completereference copy inscribed by the author. Sold as is.
