Heavy quarto, No. 25 of an edition of 100 printed at De Vinne Press, pp. xix, 469, 2 (a musical score), vellum boards with gilt lettering to spine, various devices on both boards and spine, top edge gilt, 61 illustrated plates. An outstanding example of fine presswork, printed on handmade Van Gelder paper, with Batcheller's travelogue serving as a vehicle for the various forms of mechanical photo printing in gravure, halftone and color. Condition of this book: Near fine, boards curling away from fore edge, just a little. Special Limited Edition, first issue in this format. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
