Original dark green cloth with black, gold and silver pictorial stamping and silver lettering. xvi, 698pp, 6pp. Frontispiece, numerous illustrations, pictorial endpapers. Very good. Mild edgewear; contemporary ownership signature on inner flyleaf. Tight, attractive first edition of this important memoir by the important educator and reformer (1839-98) who served as president of the National Women's Christian Temperance Union (1879-98) and the World's Woman's Christian Temperance Union (1891-98); she was also first president of the National Council of Women (1888-90).
