About This Item

Tokyo/New York: Kokusai Bunka Shinkokai/Dodd Mead, 1938. Book. New. Hardcover. First Edition. Thick Quarto, sand colored cloth covered boards with gilt cover decoration and spine titles. 239pp. including index. Generously illustrated throughout with 147 full page plates from photographs 11 of which are in full colour including the frontispiece with printed titled tissue guard. A still unsurpassed explication of the spirit of Japanese art and culture comprised of the texts of 11 lectures given by Professor Harada in the United States (mostly in Oregon) in the years 1935-36. A beautiful book production. This volume is a beautiful, unmarked and apparently unread volume. Very tight, clean and fresh pages with crisp tissue guards on the color plates. The only defect is a faint yellowing to the extreme top edge of the boards, else fine. In a very heavy, crisp, stiff dust jacket which has a couple of mere flecks of soil and some signs of faint dust darkening, else fine. This is a very handsome example of this title and he faults noted are niggling and noticeable only on close inspection. AS NEW..
