Doubleday, Garden City, 1954. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Poor. Inscribed by Author. BEATON, CECIL. The Glass of Fashion, Fifty Years of Dress and Decor: A Kaleidoscope of Changing Tastes and the People Who Inspired Them, octavo, first American edition, Doubleday, 1954, pp. 397, black cloth boards with lettering in silver and a red stamped image of a fashionable lady on the front, illustrations by the author. Chunks of the dust jacket are missing at the spine, and the jacket is otherwise chipped. All else is sound, with the pages showing some age-toning. Beaton signed the half-title with an inscription to Mickey Martin, probably the dancer and actor Michael Martin-Harvey, with whom Beaton worked. This is the first USA edition. Size: Octavo (standard book size). 397. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Dust Jacket has chunks missing, but is otherwise intact, with both flaps. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo.
