Book Condition: VG; interior is in remarkably good condition; heel and head are bumped; brown staining to bottom quarter of rear board-not moisture related; front lower tip has same stain. No DJ. Dark green cloth boards and spine with decorative design and gilt lettering on front board, and pictorial paste-on picture by Christy on front board. Unpaginated. Printed on heavy coated paper, with 22 feature plates by Christy plus 21 smaller illustrations to accompany the text by Riley in verse. Each page of text and each of the smaller illustrations are enclosed within beautiful orange pictorial borders by Margaret Armstrong who has also designed the cover, endpapers and other smaller designs. A song-story of love with pathos and humor exquisitely blended, the spirit of which Howard Chandler Christy catches admirably in his charming drawings. A presentable copy in remarkably good condition.
