O'Donnell wrote several popular novels, including occult fantasy, 'The Sorcery Club' (1912), but specialised in what were claimed as true stories of ghosts and hauntings. These were immensely popular, but his flamboyant style and fantastical stories suggest that he combined fact with fiction. This work features an illustrated frontispiece and a number of vignette illustrations, with twenty seven short stories, many of which are by O'Donnell, but with contributions from further writers such as Benjamin Barry and Robert Caldwell.
