A first printing (with complete number line) of Robert Silverberg's history of the various boom towns that appeared after precious metals were discovered in the American West. Starting in California, the gold and silver-seekers moved to Nevada, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana and elsewhere in the U.S. Illustrated in black & white by Lorence Bjorklund. --- In blue cloth-covered boards with spine titling in black, text presented on heavy, buff-colored leaves. Jacket features wrap-around Bjorklund image to covers. --- A clean, tightly-bound, bright copy lacking damages worthy of mention. Unclipped dust jacket ($4.50) with mild chafing to edges and slightly sunned spine, else intact and wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; (10), 309, (1) pages .
