New York: James Pott and Company, 1902. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 189 pp. Original green cloth with bright photographic and gilt decoration on front, slightly dulled gilt titles on spine. Covers scuffed with a few small spots of discoloration,, spine ends, corners, bumped and rubbed. Thumb prints on last few pages. Binding square, front hinge starting but secure, text and photographic plates generally tight. Warfield, an actor, and Hamm, a Social Settlement worker, based the book's fictional stories on actual incidents that took place in the area known as the Ghetto located between the Bowery and the East River, and Catherine and Houston Streets..
