About This Item

New York: Putnam, 1971. First Edition. Signed and inscribed by the author, journalist, and humorist Art Buchwald to actress Betsy Drake: “To Betsy, Come fly with me! Love & kisses, Art Buchwald.” Very good bright copy with some minor handling and foxing to the top and outer edges in a lightly dust soiled and used dust jacket with some small chips and tears. A collection of social and political pieces. Art Buchwald (1925 - 2007) is best known for his regular column in The Washington Post. Betsy Drake (1923 - 2015) was an actress and writer, best known for Every Girl Should Be Married (1948), Room for One More (1952), and Clarence the Cross-Eyed Lion (1965). She was married to actor Cary Grant from 1949 - 1962 and is credited by Grant for broadening his interests beyond his career and for introducing him to the therapeutic uses of then-legal LSD and hypnosis.
